Programs & Treatments
A certified physical/occupational therapist delivers the LSVT BIG® program to target amplitude (bigger movements) and normalize movements through emphasis on the amount of effort required to do so. Through this intensive program, there has been documented improvement with faster walking with larger steps, improved balance and improved trunk rotation allowing individuals to stay active and improve their quality of life.
A certified speech therapist delivers the LSVT LOUD® program to improve both voice and speech of individuals by focusing on the underlying physical pathology utilizing an effective and concise cuing system. LSVT LOUD® addresses vocal amplitude, breath support, pitch range and vocal quality in an intensive program designed to incorporate their new “LOUD” voice in their everyday environment.
Sage Outpatient is the only facility in the Baton Rouge area who has developed a LSVT BIG® and LSVT LOUD® Wellness Program. This program is a group exercise class for people who have previously completed the individual LSVT BIG® and/or LSVT LOUD® treatment protocol with a certified physical, occupational or speech therapist. The goal of the class is to continue implementing the LSVT principles in order to prevent functional decline resulting in future readmission. The certified therapists begin each class with the LSVT BIG® and LSVT LOUD® exercises followed by carry over of the principles in everyday life situations centered around a specific theme for the week. Classes are currently offered once a week for 1 hour.
